A ceremony to enshrine religious objects into the Lawkatharaphu Pagoda took place in the precinct of Buddha Park (Pankwe) in Kengtung of Shan State (East) yesterday morning, attended by members of the Sangha led by State Ovadacariya Presiding Patron of Tuya Monastery from Kengtung Aggamaha Ganthavacaka Pandita Bhaddanta Paññasami.
The congregation, led by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, took the Nine Precepts from the Presiding Patron of Tuya Monastery.
The Senior General and his wife offered the bejewelled crown and religious objects dedicated to the Lord Buddha to the venerable Sayadaws and donated offerings. The Joint Secretary, council members, Union ministers and attendees to the ceremony offered alms to members of the Sangha.
The Senior General, his wife and attendees took a sermon delivered by Shan State Buddhist University (Taunggyi) Pro-Rector Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Vicittabhipala and shared merits gained.
Presiding Patron of Siladhamma Kontha Tawya of Kengtung Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Kovida, called Wasipeik Sayadaw, and the Senior General enshrined the bejewelled crown and religious objects into the reliquary and sprinkled scented water on it.
Furthermore, a ceremony to inaugurate Siladhamma Hospital, built in the precinct of the Buddha Park, was held. Mahadhammakathika Bahujanahitadhara Bhaddanta Ñanasiri explained the purpose of opening the hospital. U Min Nyo, the leader of the Akha ethnic group of Kengtung, spoke words of thanks. The Wasipeik Sayadaw, the Senior General and his wife opened the hospital.
The Senior General, his wife and party visited the hospital. The Senior General inspected giving healthcare services to the people at Siladhamma Clinic during the period of building the Siladhamma Hospital, treatments for outpatients from 2024 to date, construction of the hospital to provide healthcare services to the ethnic people from Pankwe Hill and surrounding areas as well as to the persons taking meditation in the precinct of the Buddha Park, pilgrims and monks, medical treatment for patients at the special care units through teleconsultation with local and foreign specialists, the medical wards and the operation theatres and left necessary instructions to officials.
After the ceremonies, the Senior General, his wife and attendees offered a lunch meal to members of the Sangha.
Also, present at the ceremony were Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and his wife, council members and their wives, Union ministers, the Chief Minister of Shan State and his wife, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Triangle Region Command, Tatmadaw members, families, and ethnic people.
