A total of 14 foreigners who illegally entered the Shwe Kokko and KK Park areas in Myawady via border routes through neighbouring countries, including Thailand, were arrested yesterday for allegedly engaging in online gambling, telecom fraud, and other criminal activities.
Authorities collected the personal data and records just in one day to transfer them to their respective countries as quickly as possible.
From 30 January to 20 April 2025, the government arrested 9,032 foreigners who illegally entered the country, and 7,288 of them were transferred to their respective countries via Thailand, and the remaining 1,743 are also ready to be transferred and are being well cared for.
The 9,032 detainees are from China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Uganda, Ethiopia, Nepal, Thailand, Rwanda, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Ghana, Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Congo, Cameroon, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Madagascar, Romania, Liberia, Russia, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Burundi and Chinese Taipei. The combined departmental teams will continue efforts to identify foreign nationals who entered through illegal channels and deport them to their respective countries as soon as possible.
