THE government is actively cracking down on online fraud (Zia Pian in Mandarin Chinese) and online gambling by cooperating with international organizations. Moreover, the relevant officers in respective regions and states uncover and take action decisively against online gambling and scams including other destructive actions and the combined team comprising of security force members investigate the cases strictly.
Acting on the tip-off, security forces raided the places where the online gambling and scams are concentrated in Mongyai Township, Shan State (North), and an armed engagement occurred with security members of ‘Zia Pian’ in the southeast of Mongyai on 5 February. During the clash, security forces captured two dead bodies, five ‘Zia Pian’ securities, six weapons, eight Chinese nationals — seven males and one female — and seven Myanmar nationals — three males and four females.
Security forces also seized seven buildings and 181 mobile phones, 25 laptops, 21 desktops, 28 keyboards, two Wi-Fi devices, two Starlink devices, one gun and five bullets and other gambling materials near Naunghan village.
On 6 February, security forces arrested nine Chinese nationals — eight males and one female, 18 Vietnamese females and 27 Myanmar nationals — two males and 25 females — near Naunghan village in Mongha area together with 72 computers, five Starlink devices, 79 mobile phones, five fish gambling machines and two vehicles.
On 7 February, 12 Chinese males were arrested with one Alphard vehicle and one generator near the vicinity of Naunghan village.
From 5 to 7 February, 29 Chinese nationals — 27 males and two females, 18 Vietnamese females and 34 Myanmar nationals — five males and 29 females, totalling 81 offenders were arrested in Mongha region, Mongyai township.
Systematic prosecution will be made against the offenders, and foreigners will be transferred to their respective countries on bilateral relations of the countries and humanitarian grounds.
The government actively investigates online gambling to take effective actions and cooperates with international organizations including neighbouring countries to crack down on online gambling and ‘Zia Pian’ in the border areas.
