KBZPAY stated that it constantly focuses on ensuring mobile wallet security, in collaboration with mobile network operators and the Central Bank of Myanmar.
In a statement, CBM says “mobile money is being stolen by hacking third-party service providers through mobile network operators linked with banks and mobile money services.”
KBZPay said the investigation process is found to affect only device change and there are 31 cases relating to device change. At present, device change has been stopped for a while and system maintenance has been underway but the device change will be available again on 7 January 2025.
KBZPay has begun providing advance payments as of 30 December 2024 to prevent 31 customers from losing their money during the period of the investigation, it said.
