ACCORDING to the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar, a meeting on China-Myanmar rural tourism development was held in Yangon on 3 December.

Attendees included representatives from the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar, Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the China Foundation for Rural Development (CFRD), and members of the regional tourism sector. Discussions focused on the current state of rural tourism development in China and Myanmar, policy measures, and opportunities for cooperation.

Both sides acknowledged the positive impact of rural tourism development on enhancing the social and economic well-being of communities and preserving cultural traditions for future generations. Participants shared insights from their experiences in China and offered recommendations for advancing rural tourism collaboration between the two nations.

Recently, officials and representatives from Myanmar’s tourism associations and companies participated in various training programmes and events in China. These included capacity-building training on high-quality rural development with culture and tourism (held in Beijing and Zhejiang), the China International Tourism Expo (Shanghai), the Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance Exchange Activity (Chongqing), and the Chongqing International Travel Agent Conference.
