MYANMAR garment manufacturers received growing foreign orders this year, a garment factory owner told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
The garment orders improved significantly this year. There is great potential in the garment sector this year, with client orders being placed until the end of the year.
“There is a rise in purchase orders. The buyers who were supposed to go to Bangladesh turned to Myanmar after Bangladesh doubled labour wages. We see good prospects this year as some place orders for the whole year. As a result of this, it helps secure jobs for the workers,” he added.
The majority of the factory workers are from regions other than Yangon. The factories arrange dormitories near the industrial park to accommodate them.
“We maintain and respect a good relationship between employer and employees. They are diligently committed to the job, and they can earn as much as they make an effort. We also provide other contributions such as staple food (rice, edible oil, salt) and other expenses beyond salary,” he emphasized.
He added that we covered the travel cost to return to their hometowns during the last Thingyan holidays in mid-April.
Myanmar’s manufacturing sector is primarily concentrated in garment and textiles produced on a Cutting, Making, and Packing basis, and it contributes to the country’s GDP to a certain extent.
