Swine flu broke out in last year’s dry season, which has resulted in the number of pig farmers lessening this year.

As a result of a decrease in the number of pig farmers, there have been fewer pigs, but pork consumption hasn’t decreased.

“Last year’s swine flu outbreak slightly impacted pig farming, so the price gets high now. In young pig farming, there are native pigs and CP pigs.

Now, pigs number fall because some farmers have stopped farming them. Although some even stopped farming, they wanted to resume farming.

“We can say that pig farming has decreased. It has been more than a month since the price has risen,” said Ko Win Ko Ko, who runs a pig farm in Yamethin Township.

Prices of live pigs were good between the end of February and first week of March.

“We want the pig farming industry to develop. Now, some people have started pig farming and want to resume their pig farming,” said a pig farmer in Bago Region.
