THE Myanmar Music Association (Central) announced a grand celebration for Myanmar Music Day. This event will serve as a precursor to the launch of a Music Academy at the National Theatre in Dagon Township, Yangon.
The Myanmar Music Day ceremony will feature a programme of music supported by the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. The day is held annually, with festivities broadcast on Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).
“The event will be open to the public and will be held with state support,” said a representative from the Myanmar Music Association (Central). “It serves as a prelude to the Music Academy event to be held in Nay Pyi Taw this October”.
Plans are also underway for the inaugural Music Academy event in Nay Pyi Taw this October. Awards are planned in nine categories, including Myanmar traditional, studio, modern, and international music. — ASH/TRKM
