Vice President U Henry Van Thio inspected healthcare and transport infrastructure in Rezwa, Chin State, on 5 September.
The vice president, together with Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Chin State Chief Minister U Salai Lian Luai, Chin State Hluttaw Speaker U Zo Bwe, deputy ministers and officials, left Matupi to Rezwa and inspected the construction of a two-storey ward for the Rezwa Station Hospital. The two-storey extended building with a operation theatre and delivery room is 95.6 ft long and 50 ft wide. The building is an iron-reinforced one and the whole project costs over 472 million kyats.
During the tour of inspection, Head of Chin State Public Health and Medical Services Department Dr Aung Ngwe Zan reported on the progress of the project. Afterwards, the vice president and his entourage went to Lailinpi and held a meeting with the authorities concerned over implementation of an airport in the town.
At the meeting, Deputy Director-General of the Civil Aviation Department U Kyaw Soe reported on facts about the airport, the situation and progress of the project, quarry for the project, tree plantation at the small airport.
After hearing the report, the vice president gave instruction on completion the project by meeting the set standard.
Lailinpi Airport is located in Lailinpi, in Chin State, 4,950 ft above sea level.
The runway of the project is 2,500 ft long and 50 ft wide.
The Flexible Pavement can withstan about 5,7000 kilo of load and Caravan Cessna type of plan can land there upon completion of the project.
The project has completed about 75 per cent, and upon completion, it would benefit local people southern Chin State.
The project was funded by the Mission Aviation Fellolwship-MAF.
After the visit, the vice president and entourage went to Ramsi Village in the Matupi township and held a meeting with local people over regional development tasks.
Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi and Chief Mnister U Salai Lian Luai, Deputy Minister U Tin Myint and Director-General Dr Soe Oo reported on implementation of the regional tasks.
Vice President U Henry Van Thio and party arrived Gangaw in the evening and stopped over there.
