UNION Minister for Informa­tion U Maung Maung Ohn at­tended the honorary dinner for Myanmar-China Friendship organized by Myanmar-China Cooperation Centre yesterday.

The event was attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and ministers, Minister Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy to the Re­public of the Union of Myanmar Mrs Qiao Li, Mr. Xu Jian Guo of China Foundation for Peace and Development, Chairman of Myanmar-China Friendship As­sociation (Central) and Patron of Myanmar-China Cooperation Association U Tin Oo and rele­vant officials.

Speaking at the dinner, the Union minister said the My­anmar-China bilateral tie was established since the reign of Myanmar’s ancient kings’, forg­ing friendly relations. The Prime Minister attended the Chinese New Year Day in person in Yan­gon in January 2023 and deliv­ered a New Year speech, saying “Myanmar is a true-hearted neighbouring country for Chi­na and the Chinese people, and China is an important neighbour and a comprehensive strategic cooperative partner of Myan­mar.”

The Union minister added that Myanmar is willing to car­ry on “Paukphaw” (fraternal) friendship and strengthen the bilateral ties via Myanmar-Chi­na community through thick and thin. Moreover, the people of two countries should enjoy the shared benefits achieved from the bilateral relationship of two countries.

He also expressed gratitude to Mr Xu Jian Guo for his dona­tions of computers and printers to IPRD offices in 2023.

He then pledged to build a good future for peoples of two countries despite the doings of destructionists who spread false information to affect My­anmar-China friendships.

Mr Xu Jian Guo visited the Community Centre of IPRD in Bahan Township, and the rele­vant officials briefed awareness programmes for the public and the opening of public libraries. Then, the Chinese guest planted a tree in the compound of the Community Centre.
