ON the full moon day of Tazaungmone (Samañaphala Day), the pagodas and the resorts in and around Mandalay were packed with many people, enjoying the holiday and doing meritorious deeds.
Starting from dawn, people offered candle lights, lotus robes and Kathina robes at the pagodas and monasteries as is the custom. At the Maha Muni Buddha Image, one of the most famous pagodas, the monks washed the face of the Buddha statue and offered lotus robes.

Donors and well-wishers were busy doing good deeds at Mandalay Taungdaw Sutaungpyae Pagoda, Kuthodaw Pagoda, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda, Aungdawmu Pagoda, Shwekyimyin Pagoda and the Jade Pagoda.

In the evening, the city was also alive with the people lighting the candles and donating the Mezali Phu (buds of Cassia siamea) salad (traditional and seasonal salad) and they enjoyed it the full moon day of Tazaungmone happily.

Moreover, the other famous places around Mandalay such as the Taungthaman Lake, the U Bein Bridge and the city garden were also filled with recreational enthusiasts.
