MANAGED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illicit trades under the law.

The inspection teams led by the Police Force under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections. They seized an unregistered Nissan Diesel 10-wheel vehicle, a 16-wheel vehicle (estimated at K30,000,000), a Toyota Caldina car without a licence (estimated at K2,000,000) and an unregistered motorbike (estimated at K250,000) totalling K32,250,000. Action is taken under the Import and Export Law.

Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the regional Forest Department with the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections. It seized 5.4492 tonnes of illegal teak, timbers and other wood (estimated value of K538,000), and action was taken under the forest law.

Thus, five arrests were made on 2 April (estimated at K32,788,000), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
