The Union Election Commission successfully held the 2025 general election in three phases: Phase I on 28 December 2025, Phase II on 11 January 2026, and Phase III on 25 January 2026. The commission yesterday began examining two objections submitted for Phase I and Phase II of the 2025 general election in accordance with Sections 67 and 68 and Rule 112 of the relevant Hluttaw Election Rules.

For the hearings, Election Tribunal 1 and Election Tribunal 2, comprising a commission member as chairperson and two other commission members, were formed under Section 69 (a) (1) of the relevant Hluttaw Election Laws by Order 1/2026 and Order 2/2026 dated 23 February 2026.

Yesterday, Election Tribunal 1 examined objection No 1/2025 filed by Dr Kaung Htet Khine (USDP) against U Pawng Zalang (Zomi National Party), whereas Election Tribunal 2 examined objection No 2/2025 filed by U Win Kyu (USDP) against U Khine Oo (People’s Party).
