DEPUTY Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw attended the 2025 China (Henan) - ASEAN Food and Agriculture Cooperation Development Conference held from 12 to 15 October in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China.
On 12 October, the deputy minister separately met Mr Shi Zhongjun, secretary-general of ASEAN-China Centre and Mr Li Zhou, deputy governor of Henan Province, and discussed joint efforts between the two countries to conduct research and produce high-quality products, to manufacture and widely apply agricultural machinery in Myanmar that integrates advanced technologies, to develop engineering and agricultural technologies for improving irrigation and water distribution systems, to increase the organization of technology discussion forums and training programmes and to further support the integration of diploma and postgraduate scholarships in subjects related to agriculture, irrigation, and water resources.
On 13 October, the deputy minister observed the booths displayed at the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Speaking at the Conference on Food and Agriculture Cooperation and Development, the deputy minister said the conference’s theme, “Empowering Food and Agriculture Cooperation with Digital Intelligence and Driving Regional Development with Innovation” reflects the close mutual relationship between ASEAN and China. To deepen the cooperation, emphasis should be placed on three main areas: (a) policy discussions and technology exchange, (b) collaborative research and development of innovative solutions, and (c) market integration and facilitation of smooth investment. He also appreciated the modern and innovative farming techniques of China, and welcomed the cooperation between ASEAN countries and China for food security.
At noon, he attended the Seminar on ASEAN-China (Henan) Smart Agriculture Development Exchanges, and a dinner event after meeting with the Zhengzhou Governor.
On 14 October, the deputy minister visited the Central-China Agricultural Valley in Xinxing and the Sanquan Food Company in Zhengzhou.
On 15 October, the deputy minister observed the distribution processes of irrigation and drinking water from the Yellow River in Zhengzhou. — MNA/ KTZH
