Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe attended the Special Emergency Meeting of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers in the aftermath of the earthquake in Myanmar held via videoconference yesterday. The meeting was convened to coordinate the humanitarian assistance, and relief and recovery operations in the affected areas in Myanmar and Thailand in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

Myanmar Fire Brigade forces along with foreign firefighters are currently searching and rescue works for the victims who were affected and trapped in buildings due to the earthquake on 28 March. Foreign firefighters have also arrived in Nay Pyi Taw and will cooperate with the Myanmar Fire Brigade in search and rescue efforts.
