THE Dhammaduta Jetavana Monastery in Hmawbi Township, Yangon, has allowed its facilities to be used as a quarantine site.

Dhammaduta Dr Ashin Cekinda, the presiding monk of the monastery, offered his meditation retreat to accommodate Myanmar citizens who will return from foreign countries and territories with the outbreak of Covid-19 and those who have no symptoms despite their close contact with the infected patients.

Union Minister for Health and Sports visited the monastery on the outskirts of Yangon to inspect the preparations for quarantine which will be supervised by an officer and a healthcare team.

The facility could accommodate about 400 quarantined persons, starting yesterday afternoon.

The Union Minister said his office has allocated budget for anti-Covid-19 measures at the Public Health and Medical Service Department of Yangon Region, the Waibargi Special Hospital and the South Okkalapa Maternal and Child Hospital, while the delegation of authority has been given to local health authorities.
