UNION Minister Dr Htay Aung of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism attended the "Myan­mar-China Tourism Promotion Coordinating Meeting" that was held yesterday afternoon at Nila Hall of the ministry in a hybrid system.

The Union Minister said as Myanmar is attracting Chinese tourists with the jade market it is necessary to make an all-round effort via news media for Myan­mar-China tourism promotion. In the nature of the tourism in­dustry, all sectors are interrelat­ed, so cooperation is needed with respective sectors in promoting the existing market, he added.

The ministry opened Chi­nese language courses and re­lated courses. Now is the open season in addition to the Chinese New Year. As Chinese tourists can visit the country, private as­sociations and entrepreneurs should coordinate with previous partner organizations in China, the Union minister urged.

Afterwards, the president of the Myanmar Tourism Federa­tion and attendees discussed the points that should be prepared in advance for the promotion of Myanmar-China tourism such as preparations for destinations and tourist attractions, entry visas, flights from both coun­tries, health issues and travel spending.

Present at the meeting were directors-general, offi­cials and language-in-charge personnel. The Myanmar Tour­ism Federation president and officials, the Myanmar-China Friendship Association (Cen­tral) chairperson, the chairman of the Myanmar-China Chamber of Commerce, the chairman of the Myanmar-China Coopera­tion Association, the Dehong Dai Sub-Provincial Chamber of Commerce (Myanmar repre­sentative office) in charge and representatives, responsible persons from airlines, the Chi­nese International Language Centre principal and invitees participated online.

This meeting aims to revive the Chinese tourism market, which is one of the world's larg­est outbound tourism markets, in order to increase the num­ber of international travellers including China.
