THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Mr Harishchandra Ghimire as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in succession to Mr Bhim K Udas.
M r H a r i s h c h a n d r a Ghimire was born on 12 June 1967 in Kathmandu, Nepal. He received his School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 1985.
He received Bachelor’s Degree in Management in 1994, Bachelor’s Degree in Law in 1997, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations in 2001, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with specialization in Human Resource Development Area in 2006 from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal.
He joined the Nepalese foreign services in 1998 and started working at the section office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. He served in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal such as Under Secretary in 2009, Director of the Department of Hospitality from 2009 to 2011, at the same period as Liaison Officer attached at the Office of the President of Nepal, Director of the Department of Consular Services from June to December 2015, Under Secretary of Mid Asia, West Asia and Africa Division from January to June 2016. Currently, he has been serving as Joint Secretary, Division Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal since July 2019.
He also served in several Nepalese missions abroad such as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Yangon, Myanmar from 1999 to 2003, First Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Washington, DC, the United States from 2006 to 2009, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia from May 2011 to May 2015 as well as Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, China from June 2016 to July 2019.
He speaks Nepali, English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic and Chinese. He is married with a son.
