THE State-level coastline natural resources administrative committee’s second meeting was held at the Ingyin Hall of the Forestry Department in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Committee Chairman MoNREC Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi, Vice-Chairman MoALI Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo and committee members attended the meeting with respective region/ state ministers joining it virtually.

Firstly, the committee chairman said the State is improving administrative processes of the coastal and mangrove sector with an added momentum as a national task, implementing a blue economy not only for business development but also for the sustainability of coastal resources, the stability of the ocean ecosystem and socioeconomic development of the people, who are living in developing countries, identifying policies related to the development of Myanmar’s blue economy and implementing the basic national-level coastal resource all-round management plan.

Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi mentioned that Myanmar’s coastal line possesses the three-fifths of the whole ecosystem in the Bay of Bengal, which has a diverse marine ecosystem; it is necessary to resolve the loss of marine biodiversity, coral reefs, mangroves, sea grasses and water resources in order to secure food security and avoid decreasing in vocational careers. Collaborative efforts are exerted to control waste disposals such as plastic garbage, electronic waste, and agricultural residues, he elaborated.

Then, Committee ViceChair Union Minister U Tin Htut Oo gave remarks and the committee secretary briefed the undertakings of the committee.

The committee members discussed the relevant sectors, difficulties and the plans to be carried out before concluding the meeting.
