UNION Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo inspected the establishment of high-tech demonstration farms in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday morning.

First, the Union Minister and departmental officials visited 100 acres of monsoon paddy and crop fields in Lewe Township in Thittat Village, Zeyathiri Township.

Officials explained the situation in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area which can be improved by seasonal crop production and water supply using various methods.

Upon the reports, the Union minister said that the agricultural and livestock-based production was further developed with modern methods and the productivity of each acre of agricultural land was continuously improved.

The Union minister said that in order to increase the yield and quality of crops, it is necessary to educate people on how to save water and use inputs in line with agricultural production techniques to be able to cultivate all three agricultural lands that provide water and soil conditions for one year.

More than 170,000 acres of monsoon paddy in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area and about 28,000 acres of summer paddy and over 320,000 acres of various crops were cultivated in 2021- 2022.

The soil is fertile and the climate is temperate, so there is a lot of potential for annual cultivation, he said.

Due to the presence of research institutes and the availability of professional resources, high-tech demonstration farms have been set up to engage local farmers and farmers in various regions and states. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is making efforts for farmers to study Agriculture, the Union Minister added.
