THE Anti-Narcotics Police Force is to be extended with six X-ray machine squadrons. The Anti-Narcotics Police Force has been formed with 10 brances and 65 platoons and it will be expanded with No 11 X-Ray Machine Branch and six X-Ray Machine platoons.

It is learned that plans are underway to effectively identify drug transport with the use of advanced search tools, drug testing equipment, and mobile testing equipment to take action.

In collaboration with neighbouring countries, Myanmar has been conducting special anti-drug operations. In addition, as a result of the Operation 1511 which included six Mekong countries in 2020, the Safe Mekong Operation with Laos and Thailand in 2021, and Operation 1511/22 between January and March 2022, Myanmar has achieved the goal of controlling the illegal entry of chemicals into the Golden Triangle and preventing the spread of drugs outside the country.

To address the drug problem, Myanmar has signed three UN Conventions and is working together with United Nations member countries, ASEAN countries, neighbouring countries, and international organizations to carry out the prevention of illegal drugs.

On 26 June 2022, a total of 79 seized narcotics and precursor chemicals worth K118,882 billion (more than USD 642.60 million) were destroyed in Mandalay, Yangon, and Taunggyi.
