SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

Under the instructions of the Kayin State of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined team at the Thingan-nyinaung checkpoint confiscated a total of 680 cement bags worth K4.08 million from two trucks (approximately K36 million), consumer goods and foodstuffs worth K3.8238 million from a Toyota Hiace vehicle (approximately K15 million) and foodstuffs and three unregister motorcycles (approximately K1.2156 million) from a vehicle (approximately K15 million) on 24 June.

In addition, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint confiscated car tyres and turbo chargersand two trucks totally worth K89.3898 million—K1.93 million tyres that were not included the number of the Import Declaration (ID) and turbo chargers (approximately K1.4 million) that exceed the number of ID from two trucks heading from Myawady to Yangon on 25 June.

Similarly, an on-duty team at Myanmar Industrial Port’s container checkpoint carried out inspections under the management of the Customs Department. They confiscated garment estimated worth over K65.84 million without any declaration in the Import Licence on 25 June. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Similarly, an on-duty team at Mayanchaung checkpoint carried out inspections under the management of the Customs Department. Theyconfiscated auto spare parts estimated worth over K3.44 million without any document from a passenger vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon on 25 June. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.

Under the instructions of the Sagaing Region of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team led by the Forest Department made inspections. They seized a total of 0.8474 tonne of illegal timbers estimated worth over K84,740 in Tamu township. The action was prosecuted under the Forest Law.

On 26 June, under the instructions of the Bago Region of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team led by the region Forest Department made inspections. They seized a total of 2.4216 tonnes of illegal teak sawn timber estimated worth over K1.59 million in Bago and Thayawady districts. The action was prosecuted under the Forest Law.

Therefore, 17 arrests estimated at over K160.36 million were made on 24, 25 and 26 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
