NARCOTIC drugs worth over 192 million US dollars were burned in Hlinethaya, Yangon yesterday, marking the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Some 33 kinds of narcotic drugs worth over USD 192 million and precursor chemicals confiscated this year were destroyed at the ceremonies following the COVID-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Health said Yangon Region Police Force Commander Police BrigGen Myo Min Htike.

A total of 1.5074 kilos of opium, 162.924645 kilos of heroin, 65,417,325.5 stimulant tablets, 7,599.50294 kilos of Ice, seven opium plants, 897.72 kilos of opium speciosa extraction, 40 ecstasy tablets, 195 bottles of Morpheme, 3,125 bottles of Fentanyl, 1,345.92231 kilos of Ketamine, 3,998 tablets of Sedil, 2.4 Litres of Cough Syrup, 69.672 kilos of Methylamine Hydrochloride, 4,089.9918 kilos of Sodium Cyanide, 1,677.6 kilos of Nitric Acid and other chemicals worthof over 192 million of USD were destroyed.

The narcotics were also incinerated in Yangon Region, Taninthayi Region, Bago Region Ayeyawady Region, Rakhine State, Mon State, and Kayin State. Among the cases arrested by No 1 Border Guard Police Force Command and the Expressway Police Force, 5,914 cases have been decided by the court, said Police Brig-Gen Myo Min Htike.

In addition to Yangon Region, 25 types of drugs worth K316.77 billion and 18 types of drugs worth over K515.36 billion were also burnt in Mandalay Region and Shan State yesterday.
