SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, an effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

The Customs and Excise Team inspected the container terminal of Myanmar Industri­al Port under the management of the Customs Department on 7 May. Cosmetics estimated at K35,558,400 not listed in the im­port declaration (ID) were seized and action was taken according to the Customs procedures.

On 8 May, a combined inspec­tion team led by Myanmar Police force conducted an inspection under the management of Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. A Toyota Townace vehicle estimated at K1.5 million without vehicle registration certificate was seized in Sagaing Township. Police opened a file on this case according to the export/import law.

Similarly, a combined in­spection team led by the Region Forest Department conducted an inspection under the man­agement of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Bago Region.

During their inspection in Padaung Township, 1.3324 tonnes of doors and door frames made of illegal teak and ironwood at an estimated value of K355,480 were seized near milepost 18/1-2 of the Pyay-Taungup road and action was taken under the Forest Law.

Therefore, four arrests ap­proximately valued at K37,413,880 were carried out on 7 and 8 May, according to the Steering Com­mittee for Combating Illegal Trade.
