SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.

On 4 February, the airport customs warehouse team inspected and seized illegal foodstuffs, agricultural products and vehicle spare parts (estimated value of K9,070,900) at the airport customs warehouse of Yangon International Airport and action is taken under the Customs Law.

Similarly, managed by the Region Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, inspections were carried out by joint inspection teams led by the Forest Department of Ayeyawady Region and 11.178 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K782,432) were seized.

Action is taken under the Forest Law.

Next, managed by the Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, inspections were made by joint inspection teams led by the Forest Department in Bago Region on 5 February.

A total of 11.4578 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K3,361,000) were seized in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts, and action is taken under the Forest Law.

Thus, on 4 and 5 February, the total number of arrests were five and the estimated value is K13,214,332, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
