A combined team consisting of the Anti-Drug Police seized ICE (crystal methamphetamine) worth over K560 million along with arms and ammunition on 25 January in Tachilek, accord­ing to the Myanmar Police Force.

A Toyota Crown carrying illegal drugs was asked to stop for inspection by the police on its way from the Haunglek Industrial Zone to the detour in Tachilek Township at around 2 pm on 25 January. The driver, however, parked the car on the side of the road and fled the scene. The police searched the vehicle and seized 90 kilogrammes of ICE worth K560 million from the vehicle.

After conducting the investigation, the po­lice searched the house of Maw Shay, the owner of illegal drugs, and arrested him and Ma Nar Law Kham who is the partner in trading ICE, along with a Toyota Crown car.

According to the statement of Ma Nar Law Kham, the police searched the rubber planta­tion owned by Maw Shay at around 5:30 pm in Mabo (1) village in Tachilek, found and seized 1,800 stimulant tablets, parts of .22 gun, three 44mm grenades, eight grenades, 652 rounds of ammunition and five rifle strings.

It is reported that action is taken against them under the law and the investigation is underway to identify and arrest other related suspects.
