UNDER the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
According to the report, a joint team led by the Department of Forestry under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force inspected 1.2072 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value K94,014) in the Bago District Forest Reserve and is taking action under the Forest Law.
Similarly, a joint team led by the Customs Department conducted a joint inspection at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Joint Inspection Station and seized 420 Chinese-made Sanook rice cookers without any official documents (estimated value of K4,200,000) from a 12-wheeler truck from Myawady to Yangon.
Action is being taken as per the procedures of the Customs Department.
Combined forces under the control of the Anti-Illegal Task Force reportedly conducted a surprise check on the Asian Road yesterday.
A total of 55 (45 gallons) of diesel fuel (estimated value of K10,340,000) and carried by one 12-wheeler vehicle Number 3I / 1949 (Nissan Diesel) which is (estimated value of K30,000,000) were seized and action is being taken in line with the procedures of the Customs Department.
The total value of the vehicle and the diesel fuel is estimated at K40,340,000.
In addition, under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, a joint investigation team led by the Forest Department seized 2.744 tonnes of teak (estimated at K411,600) in Katha Township and is being taken action under the Forest Law.
Thus, a total of five arrests were made on 21 and 22 January with (estimated value of K45,045,614), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. MNA
