BHAMO District Court sentenced two people accused of trafficking Myanmar women to China to 10 years in jail each on 11 January, according to the Myanmar Police Force.

Three suspects Aung Mine (aka) Mi Tone Aung Mine (arrested), Ma Rwe Taung (arrested) and Ma Abauk (still at large) from Myitkyina Township of Kachin State persuaded three girls from Myitkyina to marry Chinese men and they would get K4 million.

They were charged under Section 24/32 of the Anti- Trafficking in Persons Law at the Lwejel Police Station with (Pa) 21/2020.

The Bhamo District Court sentenced Aung Mine (aka) Mi Tone Aung Mine and Ma Rwe Taung to 10 years in prison with hard labour each on Tuesday.
