UNDER the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
On 10 January, a combined inspection team of Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-an) reportedly inspected and seized illegal foodstuffs worth K65,850,000, including 2,080 kilogrammes of frozen duck (estimated value of K3,900,000), 975 kilogrammes of frozen chicken (estimated value of K1,950,000) and one Yutong bus (estimated value of K60,000,000). Similarly, combined teams from the Ayeyawady Region led by the Region Forest Department under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force inspected areas in Kyangin Township and a total of 1.6064 tonnes of teak logs (estimated value of K1,285,120) were seized on 10 January.
Similarly, under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, led by the Bago Region Forest Department, illegal logging was inspected in the protected forests in Pyay and Thayawady districts and 12.9 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K1,568,000) was seized.
According to the report, illegal logging is also being carried out in the protected forests in Toungoo and Pyay districts and Anti-illegal Trade Task Force, led by the Region Forest Department, and officials inspected the process. A total of 8.132 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value of K2,287,000) was arrested.
Thus, on 10 and 11 January, 22.63 tonnes of various types of timber seized (estimated value of K5,140,120) were confiscated in line with the procedures of the Forest Department.
A total of 3,055 kilogrammes of foodstuffs (estimated at K5,850,000) and one Yutong Bus (estimated at K60,000,000) were seized on 10 January, according to the Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee.
