THE University of Nursing in Yangon hosted a dinner to mark its 26th graduation ceremony on its campus on 8 February evening.
Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe attended the dinner, and delivered a congratulatory speech urging the nursing graduates to continue further learning for advanced levels.
A total of 306 newly graduated nurses from Yangon and Mandalay will be employed soon at relevant hospitals for public healthcare services.
In 2017, Myanmar introduced a new nursing science curriculum which was designed with assistance of experts from the World Health Organization.
More midwives training schools were opened in the country, and recruitment rates were increased to 3,700 in each academic year of 2018 - 2019 and the following year, expecting an increase to 4,500 in the upcoming academic year.
The 9-month courses are being conducted to generate 300 assistant nurses at the hospitals in Yangon and Mandalay, and at the 1,000-bedded hospital in Nay Pyi Taw.
At the 26th graduation ceremony of University of Nursing (Yangon), master degree certificates were conferred to 42 nurses, emergency nursing diploma to 4, bridge course to 199, bridge course (on campus) to 210, nursing science bachelor (regular) 123 and speciality nursing diploma to 74.
