THE Ministry of Commerce (MoC) is facilitating the import process of essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through trading posts, international airports and seaports.

Anti-COVID-19 equipment was imported by two companies using five vehicles. A total of 37 tonnes of masks were imported via Chinshwehaw Trading Zone yesterday.

From 1 to 11 December, a total of 185 tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by 77 vehicles, 4,920 empty oxygen tanks, one oxygen plant, 514 oxygen concentrators and 394 tonnes of masks were imported.

In the meantime, seven bowsers transported liquid oxygen to Yangon, two boxers to Mandalay and one to Monywa, and one oxygen plant was also transported to Mandalay.

Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including online registration for the import process.

It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments and treatment of COVID-19 as well as contact persons for inquires can be reached through the Ministry’s Website —www.commerce.gov.mm.
