THE Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation through border trading zones, international airports and seaports with the Standard Operating Procedures.
Anti-COVID-19 equipment and medical products, including oxygen plants and concentrators, were imported by three companies and transported by five vehicles yesterday.
A total of 37 tonnes of masks were imported via the Chinshwehaw trading zone.
From 1 November to 4 December, 406 tonnes of liquid oxygen carried by 166 bowsers, six tonnes of oxygen, 10,188 empty oxygen tanks, 46 oxygen plants, 16 oxygen generators, 962 oxygen concentrators for home use, 83,840 PPE suits, 43 tonnes of gloves and 830 tonnes of masks were imported by 81 companies.
In the same period, 17 bowsers transported liquid oxygen to Yangon, Mawlamyine and Nay Pyi Taw, respectively.
Out of 46 oxygen plants, 37 were transported to Yangon, two each to Myitkyina, Yesagyo and Myothit and two each to Danuphyu, Mandalay and Yenanchaung, respectively.
Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including online registration for the import process.
It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments, treatment of COVID-19, as well as contact persons for inquiries can be reached through the Ministry’s Website — www.commerce.gov.mm.
