THE Meiktila Plain water pumping  project  in  Wundwin  Township  of  Meiktila  District  in  Mandalay  Region  supplies  water to more than 2,800 acres of monsoon paddy.

The  Irrigation  and  Water  Utilization  Management  De-partment  (Water  Resource)  helps  grow  monsoon  paddy  and  other  crops  in  Wundwin  Township  to  ensure  the  food  sufficiency with Meiktila Plain water pumping project and estimates to cultivate 2,297 acres of monsoon paddy and 403 acres of other crops this year.

The  local  farmers  from  Konywa ,  Nyaungokphee , Nyaungbintha-Hseywa,  Khingyi,  Myaytaingkan  and  Yaytwin villages of Wundwin Township grew the monsoon paddy with  the  irrigated  water  from  No  2  pumping  station  (Konywa)  of  Meiktila  Plain  water  pumping project, No 3 pumping station (Khingyi) and Low Lift starting from 15 July.

The region cultivates 2,864 acres of monsoon paddy to date and  the  harvest  exceeds  the  target  this  year,  said  U  Myo  Min  Tun,  assistant  director  of  the department.
