OFFICIALS systematically welcomed 158 Myanmar returnees from Thailand through the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 in Tachilek yesterday.
The repatriated Myanmar citizens were sentenced for various reasons in Thailand. There are a total of 111 repatriated Myanmar nationals including 72 men, 39 women, and 35 male migrant workers and 12 female migrant workers.
With a supervision of Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee for COVID-19, the returnees were diagnosed with RDT Rapid Test Kit.
According to the test results, COVID-19 virus was detected in 36 repatriated people: 16 males and 20 females, and they will stay in COVID-19 Centres to receive further medical treatment.
On the third day, the second COVID-19 test was carried out and the people with negative test result will be sent back to their respective places.
Members of the Red Cross Brigade and Women's Affairs Committee in Tachilek provided personal goods and assisted in resettlement processes for the repatriated Myanmar nationals.
