VIET Nam hosted the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Minerals (AMMin8), the 21st Senior Officials Meeting on Minerals (ASOMM21), the 14th ASOMMM+3 Meeting, the 3rd ASEAN Mineral Award and related meetings via videoconferencing on Cisco WebEx from 4 to 8 October.

A Myanmar delegation led by Director-General U Khin Latt Gyi of the Department of Mining of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation consisting of Director-General Dr Thet Tin Nyunt and other officials of the Department of Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration joined the events.

During the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Min erals (AMMin8), Dr Tran Hong, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Viet Nam made an opening speech.

Then, Deputy Secretary- General for ASEAN Economic Community Mr Satvinder Singh of ASEAN Secretariat, Ministers and Senior Officials of ASEAN member countries coordinated the meeting.

The leaders discussed the action lines, Outcome Based Strategies, Annual Milestones and Work Plans of respective ASEAN countries for ASEAN Mineral Cooperation Action Plan-AMCAP AMCAP - III, Phase 2 in detail and further collaboration with ASEAN Federation of Mining Association - AFMA, Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia- CCOP, Intergovernmental Forum-IGF in addition to ASEAN’s dialogue partners China, Japan and Korea (ASEAN+3).
