THE Department of Information and Public Relations (IPRD) organized the second mobile library for the people in Kyauk Talone IDP camp in Kyaukpyu Township, Rakhine State, and more people came to borrow books than the first time, according to an official from the department. “This is the second time we launch a mobile library in this IDP camp, it is gratifying to see that more people are eager to borrow books than the first time,” said Daw Khin Yu Yu Nwe, head of the Kyaukpyu District IPRD.
There were only over 30 borrowers in the last time while more than 100 people came and borrow books this time. Officials from the IPRD conducted the mobile library field trip with over 400 books of different types, and students and the people living in the camp enthusiastically borrowed the books.
Ko Thet Naing Oo who came to borrow books said, “I am waiting since early today as I know that the mobile library will come today. I didn’t know about it the first time. I came here in advance so that I can choose the books I like to read.”
“I pay my special thanks to the Department for coming and lending books to us in the camp; I hope they will do regularly; I also like to read the novels of Min Thein Kha and Min Myat Thura,” he added.
A total of 1,008 people are living in the Kyauk Talone IDP camp. Officials from the Department of Information and Public Relations conducted the field trip under the COVID-19 rules and regulations and it is reported that books were lent free of charge.
