THE shops from municipal markets have been permitted to reopen in some townships, outside of the “stay-at-home” rule in Mon state beginning 1 October.
Some of the shop owners under the stay-at-home townships are also requested for permitting to reopen their shops but it can be reopened only when the stay-at-home rules are lifted. Thus, the related health departments are carrying out that issue. Although all shops have been permitted to reopen, the shop owners have to obey by the rules regarding the COVID-19. The Ministry of Health (MoH) has imposed the stay-at-home orders in three townships -- Mawlamyine, Thanphyuzayet and Thaton townships on 8 July and Bilin township on 3 August and Chaungzon township on 24 August.
Besides, the state municipal team has stated that only essential goods shops are allowed to open and the non-essential shops are ordered to close temporarily starting from 5 July as the COVID-19 cases increased in the state.
There were 4,987 cases and 590 deaths in August in Mon State. But in September, the state reported 3,209 COVID-19 cases with 262 deaths.
