A total of 16,405 above 18-yearold locals have already been vaccinated in the second batch with the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine in Yenangyaung Township, Magway Region, officials said.
The COVID-19 vaccination was given to people over the age of 18 and above from 16 to 28 September, according to the township COVID-19 disease control and emergency response committee.
In order to facilitate a good vaccination programme in the region, vaccination centres have been set up at Lelpaw Sasana Beikman and Basic Education High School-1 in Lelpaw, rural health branches in villages, including Phayagon, Kanma, Kangyi, Indaw, Wetlut, Chaungzon, Wet Ma Sut and Alelgon, respectively.
In addition, the COVID-19 vaccines were distributed to the wards and villages by mobile vehicles to control the spread of the virus in Yenangyaung Township under the supervision of the departmental officials and the leadership of the township administration body.
Health department staff, General Administration Department staff, village administrators and clerks, Red Cross members, auxiliary firefighters and volunteers cooperated in the vaccination works, officials said.
In Yenangyaung Township, a total of 6,100 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 twice in the first batch, according to the COVID-19 Disease Control and Response Committee.
