THE Ministry of Commerce is making efforts to ensure people have access to the essential medical supplies that are critical to the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities, including liquid oxygen and oxygen cylinders, by arranging continuous importation with standard operating procedures.

On 17 September (yesterday), anti-COVID-19 equipment, medical products including oxygen plants and concentrators were imported by four companies and transported by five vehicles.

A total of 1,000 empty oxygen cylinders, 15 oxygen plants, 367 oxygen concentrators for home use, 10,260 sets of COVID-19 test kits, 157,177 PPE suits, 16 tonnes of gloves, and 32 tonnes of masks were imported via Myawady and Chinshwehaw trading posts, ports, and the Yangon International Airport.

A total of 14 oxygen plants from the port were transported to Yangon, and a oxygen plant from Chinshwehaw trading post to Singu Township, Mandalay Region respectively.

Officials from the relevant departments are cooperating to facilitate and expedite the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ensuring better importation.

It is reported that the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with relevant departments, facilitating the importation of essential medical supplies required in prevention, control and treatment of COVID-19, as well as contact persons for inquiries can be reached through the Ministry’s Website www.commerce.
