THE COVID-19 Vaccination Fund was set up on 18-12-2020 to purchase vaccines with the government’s initial sum of K215.775 billion and $250 million. The country received K30,175,090,615.39 and $3,162,149,53 as of 27-8-2021.
A total of $103 million -- $75 million to buy Covidshield of Serum Institute of India Private Limited (SII), $14 million to purchase Sinovac vaccines from China while another $14 million for Sinopharm vaccines has been used.
Of the purchased vaccines, the country received 4 million vaccines: 2 million of Covishield from India and 2 million Sinovac vaccines from China. Of 8 million vaccines: 4 million were purchased and 4 million were donated by others, there are a total of 6,339,913 recipients as 4,542,363 people have been vaccinated as of 24-8-2021 while 1,797,550 are fully vaccinated and 2,744,813 have been vaccinated for the first time.
Therefore, it is the announcement for the donors to know regarding their cash contribution in purchasing the vaccines.
From 23-8-2021 to 27-8-2021, local/foreign donors contributed K8.960 million to the COVID-19 Vaccination Fund Myanmar currency account OA013733 opened at the Myanma Economic Bank (Nay Pyi Taw). The status of the fund account as of 27-8-2021 is as follows: -
