Yangon Government organized the flag-hoisting and saluting ceremonies to mark the 73rd Independence Day of 2021 yesterday.

The ceremonies were held at the Independence Monument in Maha Bandoola Park in line with COVID-19 preventive guidelines.

Those presented at the ceremonies were Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maug Tun, Commander of Yangon Command Brig-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Acting Chief Justice of Yangon Region High Court Daw Thin Thin Nwe, Regional Government Ministers, Deputy Speaker of Region Hluttaw, region advocate-general, region auditor-general, senior Tatmadaw officers, region Hluttaw MPs, representatives of national people and departmental officials. The flag hoisting platoon raised the flag at 4:20 am.

At 7 am, Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Phyo Min Thein and the attendees saluted the State flag together with the Guard of Honour.

The Guard of Honour also saluted the nation’s fallen martyrs and soldiers, and took the four-point oath.

The President’s message for the 73rd Independence Day was read by the Chief Minister at the event.
