Magway Region government distributed 2,000 rice bags to COVID-19 centres in the region.

The rice is donated by the Korean government under Tier 3 of ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) as prepositioned.

The ROK has provided 600 tonnes of rice to the people living in Sagaing, Magway, Taninthayi and Ayeyawady Regions, Shan, Mon, Chin, Kayin, Kayah and Kachin States.

Magway Region received an allocation of 100 tonnes of rice (2500 bags each weighing 40 kg), according to region Agriculture Department.

“We started distributing the rice on 21 December. The officials of six townships took the rice.

There are over 500 quarantine centres in 25 townships of Magway Region and about 3,000 people who undergo quarantine, according to Assistant Director for region Public Health Department Dr Khin Maung Than.
