TO preserve the art of Myanmar traditional marionette making as a national cultural heritage, ensure that it is passed down to future generations, and promote the craft, the opening ceremony of the “Myanmar Traditional Marionette Making Course” was held yesterday at the State High School of Fine Arts in Bahan Township, Yangon.

The opening ceremony of the “Myanmar Traditional Marionette Making Course”, jointly organized by the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture and the Myanmar Cultural Heritage Conservation Organization (MHCO), was attended by Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, Yangon Region Government’s Rakhine Ethnic Affairs Minister U Nay Min Tun, Chair of the MHCO Daw Sanda Khin, invited guests, course sponsors, and trainees.

Union Minister U Maung Myint then delivered the opening address, followed by congratulatory remarks from Yangon Region Government’s Ra-khine Ethnic Affairs Minister. The Chair of the MHCO subsequently explained the objectives of the course.

Next, officials presented certificates of appreciation and honorary awards to individuals who had provided significant support for the training course, after which guests were entertained with cultural performances. Afterwards, the Union minister and accompanying officials toured the training facilities and exhibition halls, where they offered words of encouragement to the trainees.
