President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by officials and the chief ministers of Sagaing, Magway and Mandalay regions, inspected regional development and economic promotion projects in Magway Region yesterday.
On arrival at the Magway Hybrid Power Company near Thabyaysan Village of Magway Township, project director U Tin Maung Latt reported on the implementation of the 100 MW hybrid power plant, which combines natural gas and solar energy, and its current progress and plans. The President discussed the presentations and guided the inspection of the sites.
The President and party visited the Kaung Ko Group Co Ltd in Gwaydauksan Village near Kanbya junction on the Magway-Nay Pyi Taw Road. Company owner Daw Moe Moe Myat Ko explained the company’s history, exports of 90 per cent purified sesame seeds and roasted sesame powder, domestic edible oil distribution, installation of processing machinery, implementation of contract farming and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training programmes, direct purchasing from farmers, operational challenges and future business plans.
After hearing the reports, the President stressed that securing a stable supply of quality sesame was essential for the company’s operations, noting that improved seed varieties would help increase yields. He also called for systematic implementation of GAP training and said the government will provide support for the company where possible, and he inspected the sesame processing operations at the factory.
The President and party proceeded to the Sharpinhla Agricultural and Breeding Zone in Sharpinhla Village-tract, Magway Township. The regional officials briefed the President on the establishment of livestock zones in Aunglan Township, development of the agricultural and livestock zone, cooperative-led poultry farming, land development, future livestock expansion, land use, cropping plans and irrigation conditions aimed at strengthening regional rice sufficiency.
The President stated that Magway Region produces maize, pulses, rice bran and broken rice, and the locally available resources can be used to manufacture animal feed within the region to support the livestock sector. He also encouraged officials to ensure the success of ongoing projects before inspecting land development works, irrigation facilities, rice nurseries and poultry farms within the zone.
