SHRI Sanjay Malthotra, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, who is in New Delhi, India, on an official visit, yesterday morning.

At the meeting, they discussed the improvement of bilateral trade and the economic sector between the two countries, the promotion of cooperation in all sectors, and cooperation in banking services in both countries in order to ensure further swift and smooth payment in the trade process in a cordial manner.

They also exchanged views on the ongoing process of Rupee-Kyat direct payment in the trade sector, efforts of India to share banking systems with the banking staff of Myanmar, and exchange of experiences in the digital payment system between the two countries.

Also, present at the meeting were Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi and U Tin Maung Swe, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Dr Khin Naing Oo and delegation members.

The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India was accompanied by officials of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
