Myanmar finished first in the overall standings at the 20th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships after winning 10 gold, six silver and nine bronze medals at the Myanmar Convention Centre in Yangon.
Myanmar athletes dominated several events on the final day of competition. Maung Maung Myint won gold in the Men’s Bodybuilding 75 kilogramme event, while Chan Myae Tun secured gold in the 80 kilogramme category and later captured the Overall Championship “Mr South East Asia 2026” title. Myanmar also claimed gold medals in the Men’s Athletic Physique Up to 160 centimetre, Men’s Athletic Physique Up to 167 centimetre and Women’s Model Physique Up to 160 centimetre events.
In the team competitions, Myanmar won the Men’s Team Championship title ahead of Vietnam and Thailand, while Vietnam won the Women’s Team Championship with Myanmar finishing runner-up.
The championship was held from 14 to 17 May with athletes from eight countries competing in bodybuilding, physique and fitness events.
