Union Election Commission Members U Than Htut Thein and U Khin Maung Gyi arrived back in Yangon by air yesterday evening, following an observation mission to the national referendum held in Kazakhstan on 15 March 2026. The visit was conducted at the invitation of the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan.

During the mission, the delegation attended a briefing on the conduct of the national referendum hosted by the Central Referendum Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CRCRK) on 14 March. On the day of the referendum, 15 March, the members observed the voting process and monitored the subsequent ballot counting. On 16 March, they attended a formal session at which the preliminary referendum results were announced.

Furthermore, the delegation met officials from various international election commissions and organizations participating in the observation mission. During these meetings, they engaged in a cordial and open exchange of views regarding electoral experiences and best practices.
