During the nine months from April to December in the 2025-2026 financial year, the Bagan Archaeological Museum received 42,193 domestic and international travellers, generating over K44.6 million in revenue, a museum official told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
Revenue includes K41,923,000 from 41,923 locals and K2,700,000 from 270 foreigners.
“There were 42,193 local and foreign visitors in nine months. The number peaked in April, a steady flow during the rainy season, and it began to rise again in October, November, and December,” he said.
Monthly performance data indicate K7,887,000 (7,887 locals) and K300,000 (30 foreigners) in October, K8,500,000 (8,500 locals) and K580,000 (58 foreigners) in November, and K12,622,000 (12,622 locals) and K670,000 (67 foreigners) in December. While domestic tourism is currently steady in January, international arrivals are increasing. Officials expect a surge in domestic travellers during the February holidays.
“We plan to open the museum on 14 and 15 February, which are public holidays. We hope for high traffic after exams in March and throughout April,” GNLM quoted him as saying.
It is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm daily, except Mondays and public holidays, with entrance fees of K1,000 (locals), K10,000 (foreigners) and exemptions for children under 12, students with recommendation letters, monks and nuns.
