THE oral hearing concerning the case between The Gambia and Myanmar is being held from 1 to 29 January at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands.
On the first day of the hearing on 12 January, the proceedings started at 10 am local time with the attendance of the president of the court, the vice-president, ten judges, and two judges appointed by the two parties.
During the hearing, the president of the Court delivered the opening remark, after which the Agent of The Gambia, the Attorney-General and the Minister of Justice, put forward an explanation. The lawyers of The Gambia made the first round of pleadings. The firstround pleadings by The Gambia continued from 3 pm to 6 pm local standard time on 13 January.
