The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MALI), in cooperation with Myanmar Fisheries Federation and stakeholders in the supply chain and value chain in the industry, is exerting concerted efforts to ensure quality fishery products and increase exports year on year.

The ministry will assist in the value-added production of the fishery products in order to boost exports. Fishery exports also generate foreign revenues. The ministry is willing to meet the needs by incorporating different perspectives to meet international standards to ensure safety and quality of fishery products while making efforts for export growth.

Myanmar ships over 300 types of fishery products to over 40 countries. Myanmar’s seafood is steadily flowing into Japan, Middle East countries, European Union member countries, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei and Australia. The Fisheries Department and MFF are closely working together for fishery export growth.

Furthermore, the department and exporters are also working closely together to meet the standards and market demands of importing countries and to ensure uninterrupted fishery exports, while Myanmar is striving to maintain access to markets with stricter import regulations, such as China.
